In the past, there have been many articles circulated on various
eSports websites regarding playing on LAN in attempts to make it a
smooth and seamless transition. Don’t get me wrong, most are pretty
in-depth and helpful but there are a few points that haven’t been
addressed that I believe to be essential. When going to a LAN, it is
not as just simple as plug and play. Call me tedious, obsessive or
neurotic but I strongly believe in these computer setup “rituals”,
especially when on a foreign PC at some random LAN center. I find that
the more information the better and easier to make it your own and
implement what you find helpful and/or relevant.
Whether you
are new to LAN events or a seasoned veteran, there is most likely
something here for you to learn and put into action. Instead of just
focusing on configurations and setup options, I want to present
in-depth methods for you to try, in an effort to point you in the right
direction of replicating your physical home environment. I find that
the closest that you can replicate your physical home environment, the
more comfortable you are and in turn, set yourself up to play at your
full potential. Let’s face it; your home setup is the setup that you
probably spend many hours per day on. It is in your muscle memory
whether you are aware of it or not. I will explain the methods I use
to measure these “rituals” but use any kind of measurement that you
