X3 vs. NiP (CPL Winter 2001)
(Click to Download)

The greatest match of all time, whenever anyone tells you a game is the greatest match of all time you need to watch it.  It's that simple and we could just end the story there.  Of course it was the context that made this match, the two elite teams of their respective continents clashed as the 1st and 2nd seeds in the final of the event and then fought to almost a standstill but with NiP coming out on top and establishing themselves as legends.  It also set the scene for European teams to win American CPLs for a long time to come.  See names like Ksharp, HeatoN and Potti adding chapters to their immortal legacies, at the peak of their games.

SK.sca vs. GoL (CPL Summer 2002)
(Click to Download)

HeatoN and Potti's SK.sca team had performed subpar at LanArena and had question marks on their heads.  Would the greatest winners in the game come through once more when the pressure was on or would they crumble and let fresh blood take the crown?  The flesh blood in question was element and his individual game was at a high level and he was hungry for a championship.  In the first game of the finals GoL had destroyed SK but now SK would show why some of their players would go down as among the greatest of all time.  Key veteran plays from the likes of XeqtR and DarK stop the young talent in GoL from ever earning that CPL glory.

SK.swe vs. 3D (CPL Winter 2002)
(Click to Download)

A year after X3-NiP two teams which each featured three players from those two lineups faced off on the same map, albeit at an earlier stage of the tournament.  This time the Americans got the better of it as Rambo put on a show which would eventually earn him the first MVP award of a CPL.  Everything clicked for 3D and a recently returned MedioN could never quite capture the form which had made him one of the best in the world the year before.  America took this one, though in the long run it would spark SK into becoming even stronger.

SK.swe vs 9.esu (CPL Cannes)

(Click to Download)

At the first event of 2003 everything was to play for as vesslan's 9.esu team looked to challenge SK, knowing if they won they'd be considered the best European team.  As it was SK.swe was close to the team which would become so famously dominant.  In this finals game they put their stamp on their encounters with vesslan teams, showing that they would make an example of them.  This final was so devastating it saw vesslan, a legend in his own right, go 0-12 on the terrorist half.  This was the first step on the path to that 2003 glory for SK and a significant one even if few remember it.

3D vs. mibr (WCG 2003)
(Click to Download)

3D had stumbled badly the year before at the WCG but this time around they got themselves a silver medal to put the USA on the map for CS at the event and gain some extra recognition that year.  They didn't sweep by teams into the finals though and this series against mibr was very close at times.  In this game, which goes into three overtimes, an mibr side of names you'll likely not recognize fights 3D all the way down to the wire with the game finishing controversially on the decision of a classic nuke flashbug.  mibr fans were mad and gotfrag figuratively collapsed for a few hours under the weight of their comment fury.
