Jeff "hero" Mettetal of Evil Geniuses has decided to retire from Counter-Strike 1.6 and leave the team. This leaves the team a player short just days before their trip to São Paulo, Brazil for the WCG Pan Am Championships. The team has decided to use former teammate, Thomas "thoMz" Garcia as a stand-in for the WCG Pan Am Event and a possible permanent replacement.
Thomas "thoMz" Garcia made headlines last year when he missed his flight to China for the MSI Beat It Event with compLexity. Several teammates, including EG in-game leader Drew "Irukandji" Timmerman flew to China despite being unable to participate. Garcia's actions led his team to being released and publicly called out by the compLexity organization as "extremely difficult" and hard to work with. This may be a high-risk pickup for his teammates and professional gaming organization, Evil Geniuses. However, earlier this year, EG pulled the finding for their CS 1.6 division, leaving the power of the roster with the players. Only time will tell if thoMz will remain as a permanent replacement.
